Tasting Notes
A seductive bouquet of fresh blueberries and roasted five spices give way to cherry confection and fragrant white pepper notes. A soft and juicy palate abounds with ripe blueberries, Satsuma plums and savoury cure meats. This sweetly fruited Shiraz offers generosity and charm, yet showcasing a frame of fine, long tannins that will ensure graceful aging.

Wine Making
The fruit for this wine comes from our Hazel’s and Calgardup Brook vineyards in southern Margaret River. Whole berries were transferred by gravity into concrete and wood fermenters. A small portion of the fruit was fermented with whole clusters for additional spice and aromatic lift. Fermentation underwent at low temperatures and gentle extraction was carried out. After 14 days on skins the juice was softly pressed and transferred to large format oak casks for 14 months maturation.
Vintage Report
A season that slowly escalated into a very hectic but also exciting harvest. A cooler and wet Spring saw vine growth delayed in development, and we were set for a late start of harvest. But then Summer came, and it was full of sunshine, dry and warm through December, January, and February with warm days and some warm nights. The red harvest started about a week after the end of the whites. Yields were lower than expected across red varietals as well, however the warm and dry weather created desirable conditions for our reds that are already showcasing fantastic tannin ripeness, concentration, and vibrancy of colour.
