Tasting Notes
A Malbec dominant blend with Cabernet Sauvignon providing structure and Petit Verdot adding lift, this wine bursts with aromas of cassis and crushed violets. Sweetened spices and mulberries are complemented by more savoury notes of cedar and mocha from maturation in the finest selection of French oak barriques. The palate is voluminous yet focussed with a ripe frame of fine tannins giving length to this deliciously fragrant wine.

Wine Making
Most of the fruit was destemmed but not crushed into concrete fermenters to retain whole berries and achieve a highly perfumed wine. Extraction was gentle and each batch spent about two to three weeks on skins. Post fermentation, each parcel was gently pressed to French oak barriques of which 35% were new. Wines were matured for 16-months before being blended and bottled in Spring 2022.
Vintage Report
The 2021 season started out with a cooler, wet spring which resulted in a lower fruit set for some varieties such as Chardonnay. We experienced above average rainfalls in early spring, meaning extra effort was required in our organically grown vineyards to mitigate disease pressure. Spring rolled into summer with long warm and dry days, however a couple of rain events in February and March required extra effort from our committed vineyard team in terms of canopy management and fruit selection at harvest.
