WINEMAKER

HENRY WYNNE

Henry’s winemaking journey began in the Perth Hills, where working in mixed agriculture sparked a deep appreciation for the land. After completing a degree in Viticulture and Oenology at Curtin University in Margaret River, Henry immersed himself in hands-on vineyard and cellar work, laying a strong foundation in the fundamentals of winegrowing.

A deep passion for wine

Eager to broaden his perspective, he embarked on a series of vintages abroad, working with small, high-quality producers in Sonoma (California), the Okanagan Valley (Canada), and Barbaresco (Italy). These diverse regions helped shape his understanding of wine styles, terroir and the importance of adapting to what each season brings.

Returning to Margaret River with sharpened skills and a deeper sense of purpose, Henry joined Stella Bella before being appointed Winemaker at McHenry Hohnen in 2019. Since then, the winery has garnered ongoing recognition, with Henry playing a key role in crafting the expressive, single-vineyard wines the label is known for.

"There’s no recipe in winemaking – every year the fruit is different. You have to work with what the vineyard gives you and trust your instincts. That’s what keeps it exciting.”
